Roof Finishing

Postby greenchicken » Thu Sep 13, 2018 1:49 pm

Next question is the roof.

To do epoxy painted plywood.

Personally I am not a fan of the aluminum look (no offense to those who do) I am most comfortable working with wood.

For this not familiar with my previous posts. Southern California (no extreme weather) and for my first attend I want to side with what is easiest to do.

I did, 3 years stored outside so far, no water intrusion. I do tarp it in the winter but that's mostly to keep snow from building up over the vent and the possibility of water intrusion from that.
My build, 5x8 modified benroy "Smiles to go". Started April 2nd 2015, first trip August 2nd 2015.

So I fiberglassed the seams and epoxied the entire tear.
The epoxy saturated the plywood and made it smooth as glass. I then did high gloss latex exterior paint to protect the epoxy.

Three years outside without issues now that I do the math. Over 1k miles down the road every year, many of them on dirt roads and in less than hospitable conditions. Lots of rain, snow and sun. Some hail.
