Any regreats going 60'' over a 48'' HF. frame

Postby saywhatthat » Thu Feb 28, 2019 1:16 am

Any regreat going 60'' over a 48'' HF. frame. Thinking going with a HF frame .I just cant find the time to do my build. It take not a thing to go 60 in wide there no waste . The pod should not be over 200 lb./ 91 KG. Dose any think you had to box the wheels made it a bad ideal ? It will go from snow to 75 + in the next 3 weeks so would like to get one more done .As I have over 500 feet of railing taking room

It was easy to widen the HF trailer to 60" so you didn't have to build over the wheels. Several did that a few years ago including mine.. Has worked great.

Bulding a floor frame using 2 X 3 lumber on edge will raise the floor enough over the wheels that building around them is not needed. It is easy to do and going 66" or more wide is not a problem. I did that on my first build and had no issues; worked well.

That is just what I did (as have others on the forum) and it worked well. There is enough clearance over the tires when using this method.

THANK you for the pictures. I am using a glassfoam floor try to stay away from wood .To hard to work with. As there is only 3'' to deal with may make new axle mounting pads and reinstall axle under spring

This is how I did mine. Some of these picture show the floor upside down. There is a drop floor so I could sort of stand up. The trailer cabin sides were 60" tall.

Rub it in .I find if I cut wood will soon be a wood pick. That why with glassfoam can't mess up cut to short 10 times bond more on. Wish yourcloser would like to pull tolling off the floor .
