Dealing With Smoke While Sleeping In Teardrop

Postby halfdome, Danny » Thu Sep 17, 2020 1:04 pm

With all the smoke on the west coast I decided to check out the filter in our rarely used "Air - To - Air Heat Exchanger" that was built into the house.
The main filter had rotted so bad I had to find a replacement now.
Home Depot had one left of WEB AbsorberElectrostatic filters FPR 5.
It's good for cigarette smoke etc so it's better than what we had.
I was able to cut it with scissors to fit perfectly.

I then got to thinking about the teardrop windows and cut pieces of the same filter to pressure fit the screen area of the open window.
We always run the Fantastic Fan in the direction that moves the air, through the windows & through the roof.
Last night we ran it all night long and seemed to work just fine.
I would rather have a filter higher rated like FPR 13 but none are available at present time.
From now on these two pieces of filter will stay with the teardrop. :D Danny

Now that’s just plain clever
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

Thanks guys, it came to me in one of those moments we all have.
I wish I had the filters years ago at a TD gathering.
I was camped in a lakeside campground next to someone who insisted on having a smokey campfire day and night.
They were one campsite closer to the lake so the smoke blew on me.
I had to wash all the soot off my gear when I got home. :(
