12 volt water pumps and faucets

Postby EZ » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:52 am

I am planning on istalling a small sink/faucet inside my tear for the kids to brush their teeth (OK, me too), wash hands, get a drink, rinse out a cup, etc. to be fed from a 2-3 gallon jug. I mean, as long as I have 12 volts available anyway... I searched the forum for some info but there seemed to be very little. I did some checking on the WWW and found the following:

TMCIN.com
TMC-06301 Galley Pump Set
Galley Pump Set (includes Figure A & B) Galley Pump Set includes galley pump, faucet tap and mounting clamp See TMC-06302 for the replacement galley pump.Price: $25.00 (seems to be the same as JCW below).

Anyone found anything else that might work for an inexpensive water delivery system? MadJack, have you tried the JCW pump/faucet yet?

I'll be following this thread myself, but Ed, if your sink has a nice lip on it, you may want to get a unit that'll fit on that lip, as opposed to mounting it next to the sink into the countertop.

Hi Ed,

While you're waiting for MJ to reply, I thought I'd let you know, I have the JCW pump/faucet and it worked pretty good. I'm putting my sink, a 6" deep 1/2 steam table pan on a drawer slide to get it out away from the TD and save space on the counter top. I created a new problem this morning, while running a vent line to my water tank I bumped into the pump pretty hard and broke off the front housing of the pump where it was screwed into the tank. That Jabsco pump was pretty tough, but I managed to break it. So now I'm looking for pump parts. I still like the pump and how it worked.

Steve,

Are you saying that the JC Whitney pump is a Jabsco brand? I think I will order one of those from that TMCIN web site for $25. I think shipping is $8.50. What a deal!!

Steve,

What appears to be the replacement pump for the JCW setup can be purchased at :

http://www.tmcin.com/browseproducts/TMC-06302-Galley-Pump.html

$18.00, much less than JCW.

Wait a minute~!!! Got that sucker on ebay!!! Sorry, I had been looking at them at JCW, then got a deal on the one I bought. Came in at $22.00 with shipping...It had been a few months.....Sorry Ed. My jabsco is black and the on/off is a push button, but otherwise looks like the $18.00 deal you found.... Jabsco pumps are pretty good quality, used on boats all the time.

OK, how about a windshield washer pump?? Seems to me that would work really good. Are they cheap? I don't know but they don't break down.

Those hardly supply any water at all. Just little squirts.

You're better off with a HAND pump for 24 bucks. (Thanks, Larry.)

Self-priming and cheap.

I hadn't considered pumping from a container. That's not a bad idea. I have left myself the option of adding a sink later. I just need to find a place to put the container that's out of the way. There's always the under floor PVC tank idea.

I had the JC Weenie pump in my trailer and took it out. Put in a hand pump and like it better because it always pumps. The thing is, if the water level is low, or the battery is not fully charged, the pump would not pump the water all the way up to the faucet. Just my opinion/experince. ;)

Or, do what I first intended to do if I put in a sink. Just pour water in it out of a container. Or get a container with a spout and sit it on the counter by the sink. No tank, No tubing, No pump, Low expense....KISS rules
 :applause: . (Me CHEAP??? Of course not :R )

Mount a water tank above the sink.. connect to a faucett....Gravity RULES!!
(And Tank is hidden, you have a faucett, and you don't "look" cheap!

It wouldn't be hidden in my TTT. But, there may be space in my porti-potti cabinet for a tank. If there's room, I can divide it into two compartments. I won't know until I get to that point. Still, I might use a water container with the pump tube stuck down inside the top until I decide on making a PVC tank. IF I decide to put in a sink in the first place.

Comon guys. We have 12 volts available. It's not supposed to be that hard (famous last words). If I can't do it with the cheap $25 pump or a windshied-washer pump then maybe I will let it go. Then again.....

The thing about a windshield washer pump is if you get them used, who knows what was pumped thru them? If it is new, who knows if they are food safe? They could be constructed of unsafe parts. Doing it on the cheap is OK but if it is a matter spending a few bucks for a pump that is made to pump water for human consumption, then I'd pony up.
