Very cool.

Are the cross members on the hatch pvc pipe?

Do you plan insulate and cover the walls? With what?

How usable is the galley area with the hatch up? I would have loved to step inside the example I saw at the museum.

The hatch cross members are hardwood dowels 3/4" x 6' and when the glue hit them they expanded. Their not moving.
The hatch is quite rigid for how big it is.
I don't plan on insulation. I will only use for car shows and summer events.
With the hatch up you can stand up and do stand up stuff.
I built it as a utility trailer first, that you can put a bed in.
It has custom vintage "chamber pot" for night use. That's the biggest advantage.
I have not scaled it yet, but it is super light. Empty it is probably about 600 lbs.
I plan to tow it with a light weight 1968 Mustang Fastback show/race car.
I made some extended reach mirrors for it.

The bed frame. It's 60" wide.
The head board is a hollow core closet door half. Super light.
Lots of storage under the bed.

Exactly how are you doing the attachment of the fabric? When I looked at this I couldn't decide the best way to do it.

Snaps are easy enough but perhaps not mosquito proof. Velcro in between the snaps might fix that but that might show on the body with the hatch down.

I thought it would be nice to leave the fabric attached to the hatch and roll it up and secure it with bungee cords when not in use. Maybe use Kedar rail for that.

I'm not really sure how we will use the tent. The wood dowels make hanging it easy.
Mostly for privacy. If the weather gets that bad I will just close the hatch.
On the original Goose the step looks very small. The lady's shoe does not even fit.
I up sized a lot. It makes walking in and out very easy.
I weigh around 15 stone. The jack stands make it feel really solid. No bounce at all.
I will cover the sheet metal in plywood and cover up the over heat on the welds.
If I was going to do it again I would use thicker gauge sheet metal. I welded four different steels to it. lol

I was looking for 16 inch's. I'm happy.
Put some gravel flaps on the Stang.
Almost ready to Rock and Roll.

My other Teardrop. I've been camping in this teardrop for over 30 years.
The last time we went full on tenting was Sherbrook Village car show 2021. We did full big tent with cots.
That's when I said I'm building a trailer.
