Hi Brian,

Thanks, I appreciate it. I also tried to call you as I have already started the POR 15 process.

Anyway, I sent the response as well and may be give you a call whenever you are free.

Thanks again.

Hi Jasbir
Got your message.
There is a rule!........... that paint is always the very, very last thing you do!
I know people that don't do this every day for a living can't wait to get something painted. But it is usually is a waste of time & money and will have to be done as another step further down the road. Think of it as a Rubik's Cube or a Chinese puzzle.......everything must be done in the correct order to be able to have the plan all come together in the end. Trying to rush through a portion or take a short cut usually ends up in a huge lose of time and in the case of building something that requires materials, it will result in a huge amount of extra expense.
And once again, I can't find the words to discourage the use of POR-15. It is a product aimed at consumers without knowledge of paint.
And their advertising guys must be doing a great job?????
As I said before, I would love to help you out here! and with 46 years of restoration experience I know I could save you some serious, Time, Money, & Frustration!
You may just have to have some trust & faith in experience.
And whatever you have used Por-15 on you should have it sandblasted off and start with a fresh pallet.
It will be money well spent and money in your pocket in the end! Unless your project is already at the almost completed state??
Sorry....I don't want to come off as " Mister Negative" here! I just don't want to see you make the mistakes that I have seen so many people that I have encountered in my business, make before you. Always the same good intentions, but a bad MO.

Hi Brian,

It is good that I only did 'marine clean' and the metal cleaning or partially etching part before I got your message. I haven't done the actual POR 15 on trailer. I only did POR 15 on axle rod which can be sanded again in a short time. I hope this clarify things. Now, my question is, whether I can use the Cloverdale paint on my trailer frame directly or not. Also, I am not sure how clean the metal should be. If you want I can send you the pictures to show you how clean it is. Do you suggest that I sandblast the frame no matter how the cleaning condition is?

Also, shall I send you an email directly or start another topic in stead of hijacking this thread? Or I can give you call when you are free to discuss this. I don't want to end up with lousy quality after spending time on it.

Thanks,

JNP

Wish you were all here!
What a wonderful trip so far!
Travelling with "Miss Piggy" is EVERYTHING & MORE!!!!....than we ever expected.
Feel like I should be over on the Lady's Thread discussing "Glamping"
Hope to see some of you when we get back to the PNW.

Good to hear Miss Piggy's proving to be a star.
I googled Bryce Canyon: wow, looks like a great place to see.

Get lots of :pictures: for the rest of us poor souls stuck here in warm 30 degree sunshine.
Fortunately, you're not likely to bring rain back from Utah...

Taking lots of pictures of "Miss Piggy" at each stop. (So is everybody else!)
Glad to hear it is still nice at home, but the last town we passed thru before stopping for the night.....it was 103 degrees.
Weather and roads have been awesome all the way.
We have actually encountered one Car Show and first annual Teardrop Show along the way in Sprage Washington. Dropped in for an hour and the back on the road.
Forgot to set the cruise when we hit the road and Sandi had to ask me why we were towing across Wash. at 91 MPH? Most of the time I forget that Miss Piggy is even there.(Normal Cruise is set at 80 to 82 MPH.
We have been avoiding the interstate hyws. and pretty much been sticking to the more scenic secondary roads.
Plan to spend some time in Utah doing all of the Canyons (or most of them??) before heading into Colorado, then back thru Arizona to LA before turning north along the coast.
