Made a cardboard template. Traced onto a piece of laminated oak and cut with a band saw. Top angle is steeper than bottom angle of the cuts to give it a nice profile. Used a block plane to clean up the saw cuts. Stain, several coats of varnish and epoxy in place.
Still thinking about the rails. Looking at car doors and how they are set. I think it was a Ford sedan that had almost rain channels about 1/2 inch from the door. I plan on a roof rack and have a flat roof so why not just put a piece of trim on the roof about 1/4 inch high to divert the water to the front or back. This is primarly for when stopped and camped.
