I bought a motorcycle lift table plan and modified it to my own needs.
It's in the lowest position (13" from the floor) and raises several heights up to 34" with the aid of an automotive floor jack.
The slot in the base is for a pallet jack so it can be moved anywhere, loaded or empty.
Got rid of the fork lift as it's not needed with this bench.
Using the trailer floor that's mounted to the chassis for your bench will kill your back.

Great idea Danny! Where did you get the plans you used?

Jon, This looks like the website where I purchased the plans.
I made a base out of 4" x 4" lumber and covered it with 3/4" plywood & plam so I could move it around with my pallet jack.
The top is made out of a 2" x 4" frame, plywood and trimmed with matching plam.
I masking taped a 4' x 8' sheet of rigid cardboard to soften it so my projects don't get damaged from wood & metal shavings, etc.
It's has been strong enough to lift my new Chevy 350 CI crate engine for my 55 Belair.

For an el cheapo solution, but one that's very flexible, why not buy the sprung clamps that make saw horses like this

You can make the legs a custom length for yiur own comfort, and you could use a 4' wide horizontal piece of lumber on each, then just drop an 8x4 sheet on as your table top. The beauty is it's infinitely variable in the size you make depending on the length of those horizontal crosspieces....

Just a thought

Would this work for you? http://www.popularwoodworking.com/artic ... box_system

Note there are plans and cut lists at the bottom of the page.
