diy swing away storage

Postby alisa1965 » Sat Jan 16, 2016 8:38 pm

We want to add on extra storage to our teardrop we built. I want something that swings away from the camper with a wire rack attached that holds a storage box. I know there are grill swings and ones with storage already attached but I can't see paying $700-$1000 for one. We already have a rack and a storage box. Basically, I want something that attaches either to the hitch or to a bumper that will swing the storage box away from the back so I can open up the back of the camper. Anyone have a diy for this? Images would be great.

I built mine from scratch. Machined some hinges out of some tubing and brass bushings. Bought about 100 bucks in metal and had it welded up in about a days work.ImageImageImageImageImage

You might look at some 4x4 tire mounts as well, some of them hold a tire and a couple of jerry cans. There were one or two "almost stock" ones around, very common option, can't remember which vehicles yet this morning, but could turn up in a U-pull.
