Planer to square the sides?

Postby toconnor602 » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:24 pm

I just cut out my sides. I have a pretty good smooth edge but the 2 boards are not square (bottom panel is about 1/8" longer. I dont want to use the belt sander and then potentially over compensate.

Has anyone used a flat electric wood plane on the convex curves to square the top edge of the 2 sides? or am i just talking crazy?

I would use a router and a template or pattern bit instead.

I built my sides a little bigger, less than 1/8". Then before I attached the inner ply, screwed the two of them together and used a belt sander. Taking a square and checking for squareness. Glue would fill in any minor voids!

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely feel like I'm trying to level this out

I also used a belt sander, the hand held power plane or router would also be good, depending on what you have for tools.
