if it is just light you need(not an optically clear view) along with ventilation just install one of the clear cover screw in deck plates from the inside and as you push it in place do so with a piece of mosquito netting over the hole

the clear plate lets in light and when the plate is unscrewed the mosquito netting will prevent most of the little buggers from ruining a good night's sleep
