Vintage Technology doors - which way is up??

I am getting ready to install my doors from Vintage Technologies. From everything I see, it looks like the screen goes on the bottom, and you lift the window up to open. This just doesn't seem right to me. I would think that would mean that you lose half of your ventilation because it is blocked by the mattress. Wouldn't you want to install the doors with the screen area on top?? Am I missing something?

If you look at the lock notches for the windows, I believe they are wedge shaped so you can open it without having to pull the released in. If that's the case you have to mount it that way or the window won't stay closed.

I installed ours with the screen up. It's obvious, isn't it? But we got a bit of dust in...

After two years I switched and flipped them. They work better this way. When it's warm inside, the cool air coming from the low screens convects up through the fan vent. And no more dust.

Install them just like Vintage suggests. Screen down.

Thanks for the feedback. I received several replies on FB saying basically the same thing. Windows down it is. They should be in by the end of the day today. Will put up pics in my build journal.

Word of advice. Don't use the screws that came with it. Get the self tapping with hex heads and much easier to start and drive in.

I found that out. I did use the screws that came with the doors, but I ended up predrilling them.

Doors went in fairly easily. Clamped them in place while I attached the trim ring inside. ImageImageImage
