How do y'all secure your appliances?

Postby 2bits » Fri Aug 31, 2018 9:40 am

I am finishing up my kitchen counter and looking at ways to keep my fridge and microwave on the shelf! What is everyone using?

For the microwave, I ran a 1x2 across the front. I left enough gap to be able to open the door, but still stops it from sliding forward.

I was hoping someone else would chime in, I'd like to see some fridge solutions. I have a couple of ideas. One being a small spring rod. It's not a great solution for a couple of reasons. It has the potential to scratch your fridge and you have to remember to put it in place when you're ready to leave camp. I have found over the years, the more stuff you have to remember, the more likely it is you will forget.

I suppose some type of decorative door in front of the fridge that latches would work, but again, it has the potential to get in the way when you want to use the fridge. I hope someone else chimes in.

Well, I had another thought. I suppose a person could take a fostner bit, and make holes in a piece of plywood for the feet and place it under the fridge, but you would still need away to keep the fridge door from opening while traveling.

How about something super simple and screw down a footman loop on the floor on both sides of the fridge or microwave and run a piece of 1” flat webbing with Velcro sewn into the webbing and run the webbing through the loop and across the top and just cinch it down. Should keep it from bouncing around and could easily be removed if needed.

I was gounf to try the board thing for both the fridge and microwave. In my old camper I would just strategically position my cooler and chairs to where they prevented the fridge door from opening. After a while I added a basic screen door hook latch which worked pretty good.

A couple of hooks and a bungee cord would do the job.
