External mount access doors

Hi All,

I am having troubles sourcing surface mount water tight access doors. I have attached a picture of the trailer for reference so you can see where i am trying to cover up. I can't use anything that needs to have holes cut to install due to the location of the storage areas. The 2 round ones at the back have PVC tubes running through them currently, the rectangular ones by the front could be either one door or 2 doors. I was hoping someone here would have a lead to some hatches that might fit the bill.

If not I would love some suggestions on how to build some sort of covers that I can use.

MJS; Take a look in the marine market. I suggest you look at "deck plates" for the round holes, and there might be something out there for the rectangles. Deck plates can be had in white, black, or with a clear center insert. The center is a 1/4 turn remove/replace that allows access. They are not flush mount, but even with surface mounting, they are a rather low profile.
BTW; What size are the round holes?

Ok I will take a look to see what I can find, the wholes are 4", I have thought about just getting the threaded ends for the PVC tubes and just have the screw on ends but would be nice if I don't have to have things sticking out the side.

Just for future reference, it's easier to design around an existing door, hatch or lid than trying to match up something you do first to the marketplace. Better to find what you need & buy it, then build your design around an existing part. Just sayin' it won't help here, but it might help someone in the future...

There are expanding rubber plugs in the plumbing dept. These would make the pvc water and air tight.
A while back there was a discussion about a side vent. It was a rectangle, not square, about the same size as your holes. Need to check size. One may even cover both tube holes. You would remove the center to work as a door.

I know this is an old post by me but thought I would give an update. I couldn't find anything that would work so I ended up having some hatch doors made. Though I would share a pic.

looks like a tidy solution. Fits well with the black entry door.

What kind of paint did you use on the body?

I used west system epoxy then sanded and coated with monstaliner roll on truck bed liner. Od green and the roof is cloudy haze and off white.
