Big oops, looking for suggestions

Postby Jimbo » Mon Aug 16, 2004 9:24 pm

Saturday when I was using the grinder on the trailer, the steel dust got on my nice white wheels. Now, after two days of morning dew, I have nice little rust spots all over them. Any suggestions on how I can clean them up without damaging the white paint finish of the wheels?
Started many, finished none... Bought a TTT <Sigh> ;)

Try a test first...but in a similar situation I used WD-40™ and extremly fine steel wool...again test first

Westley's Bleche-Wite (weird name, I know) that;s the only thing I will use in my wide white wall tires. Good stuff Maynard. :grab:

Barkeeper's friend (it's like comet only way finer grained, has a baby chicken on the label) used with an old towel or a nylon scrubbie.

Or you can buy Turtle Wax cleaning compound (read the labels, get the one for polishing not the one for refinishing).

Hint: Next time out mask off the rims with newspaper and blue painters tape
