Making BIG PICtures smaller to conform to this forum

Postby sdtripper2 » Tue Nov 10, 2009 12:40 pm

Problem Given:
Large pictures posted to this forum from other locations don't conform
to sizing constraints and cause thread stretching or non optimal reading
for members here:

One solution suggested:
Tinypic Click Here program
Advantages of Tinypic program:

1) Easy to use this three step program:
2) Choose pictures from locations on your computer or a URLs on the web
as well as videos that are too large and re~size them with ease.
3) No need to have a special program on your computer to manipulate pictures.
4)This tool has multiple easy to use options that a novice or experienced
person can learn to use with ease

Tutorial of Tinypic

Tutorial of Tinypic

Problem we are trying to address with this tutorial ~ Given:
Large pictures posted to this forum from other locations (unlike our albums) don't conform
to sizing constraints and cause thread stretching or non optimal reading
for members here:

Our suggested Solution:
Use on the fly Tinypic web based program to take over sized pictures
from your computer or the URL from the web and convert it with ease to
conform to T&TTT size friendly appearance so as to not stretch threads so
posts will be able to be read with ease. The easy solution code can then
be cut and pasted into posts on this forum with a uniformity of pictures
that will resolve the thread stretching problem that causes reading
issues.

We would like all pictures to be in this zone of sizing:
Our T&TTT album Max picture sizing is as follows:
Maximum image width (pixel): 820
Maximum image height (pixel): 652

The Tinypic program has these options that best fit our goal sizing below:
When using Tinypic please choose one of these options for results
"Message Board (640x480)" or Website/email (320x240) option

Tinypic Click Here

This website is more intuitive than detailed explicative.
Basic use flow of the Tinypic URL
1) Basically you choose pictures from your computer or on another website first, by selecting the radial button.
2) Then you choose the size with the pull down arrow.
(Message Board 640x480)
3) Then you click the uPload button.
4) Finally you choose the proper formatted resulting jpg URL to use here on the forum.
(IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards)

Example:
Say a forum member wants this big in size Teardrop picture from on the web to be on our forum.
Here is an example of what can be done: picture = 1600 x 1200 - 315k - jpg
This picture is Way tOO BIG and an eye sore for many as it shifts the post to the right way too far.
Click on the link below to see how big it is:(Left to let you see it comes from an off site link)

This is Too Big & NO JOY for our place on the web

So the person just has to use this simple 3 step process to get a pic on our web in conformance.
Go to http://tinypic.com
After using the URL option and cutting and pasting the above gigantic jpg link into the top box of TinyPic
and then selecting
"Message Board (640x480)" or Website/email (320x240) option & click the UPload button
You will have a few result choices and Ichose the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" option. But you can see the Website/email (320x240) below.
You will be given code that you can then plug into our forum with ease as you would any picture using the
Code: Select all

"Message Board (640x480)" option result below

"Website/email (320x240) option viewed below

...in addition, we would ask anyone posting any pics, regardless of where they come from to reduce the size to a maximum of 800x600 or much preferably 640x480...most photo handling software can do this for you...my preference is from www.irfanview.com ...if you open an account and upload to photobucket, it will resize them during the upload and even provide the proper tags for posting on our forum board....thank you.........................
