Posting pictures from your gallery has changed slightly...

It used to be you could copy whatever was in your browser window into your post. That NO longer works correctly.

Now the best way to post a picture is to grab the Image-URL, and paste that into your post. (remember to add your img tags)

Mike...

P.S. When you copy what was in your browser window, it added and extra _page into the URL. If you prefer to edit it manually, just remove the _page

Image

the [album] tag is preferred because it makes the browsing experience faster for everyone! Clicking on the picture will make the picture larger! :D

You can also just click the picture until it is the only thing showing in a new tab (or window) and will have view=no_count at the end of the url. Copy the url and paste it into your post then use the img tags

Dear Sir,
Can you please tell me how to attatch a PDF image to a reply in the forum. There does not appear to beanywhere that I can upload a PDF file. The file contains a technical drawing drawn in CAD. Can you please help me.

Sure Kody,

When you are composing your message, look down below, there is an "upload attachment" tab. Click on that, browse for the filename, and add the file.

Then submit your post. Volia!

I feel like a total moron trying to post a picture in a reply from my gallery. :frightened: I have tried to go above the text box and click on the image (Img) tab and paste the URL into it, also tried the image number between the brackets. Please can someone give me step by step directions in non computerese. Thanks in advanced.

Skline,
Actually I haven't figured out how to put pictures into the photo album here either. I have a Photobucket acct and put the pictures I want to post in it, then anytime i want to post a picture here I just copy the URL link from there and paste it here.
I figure by doing it that way it's automatically sized and i'm saving Mike band width by using photobucket to store my pictures, additionally there are many sites that will let me post pictures the same way and I only have to manage my pictures in one photo album acct.

Go to Photobucket.com and set up your own account there, it's free, explains how to copy pictures that you have saved on your computer to the photo album you have set up there and how to paste pictures to emails, IM's and other forums like this one.

Besides storing your pictures there are also other things you can to like this

mikeschn, Howdy;

As a new member to the forum I gotta say that you have a fine place here.
I do have a question. I've noticed that when I click on the smaller thumbnails
I have a pop-up bar across the bottom of my screen asking if I wish to save the
photo or not. Seems like a lot to go through (click save, open a new window,
look at the larger photo, figure out how to delete, then delete again from
trashcan... find my way back to the forum page and continue with my reading...)
Then there are other pictures that are of a larger size and all I have to do is put
my cursor on the pic. and click ... poof ... enlarged pic.!!! Much much nicer,
user friendly, time saving and the fustration factor is minimal if any at all.
I realize that most of the photos are in the poster's albums but then again one
needs to open a new window etc., etc., etc. time consuming and aggravating
at times.
Other than that I don't think there is anything else I would want to critique.

You are doing a great job.

I am having the same problem, Windows 8 wants me to save the small pics in order to open them, rather than just opening them.

I'm pretty sure this is a Win8 thing, as it was not a problem before I upgraded.

Any suggestions for how to get around this? I have just not bothered to open the smaller pics, and am sure that I am missing out on some of the details. It is a less enjoyable experience.

Please post a link to a sample post... I'll boot up a windows 8 computer and test it on this end.

Also let me know which browser you are using.

Thanks,

This build thread has the smaller "clicky style" pictures and flags the 'do you want to save' image message when using Win8 and Internet Explorer 10

Thanks Mike. I don't think that there is any way that we can thank you more for all that you do for this fabulous community. We are like a second kind of family thanks to you. :applause:

Hi Mike,

First of all, thanks for starting such a great website and forum. I highly appreciate your and everyone else's effort in maintaining and improving the forum. I have a question regarding uploading or attaching images to the post. I am curious to know optimum way to attach an image to the post. Optimum means uses least amount of resources (e.g. drive space, speed). I am going to start posting and uploading a lot of images/pictures and being a cheap stingy me...always try to save.

Thanks,

JNP
