INTERNAL SERVER ERROR

Postby working on it » Sat Oct 06, 2012 9:00 pm

Seems like I get this message everytime I try to post, and everytime a double post occurs. sometimes my long, detailed posts just seem to dissappear when I submit, usually accompanied by this message. Half the time, frustrated by losing the posting or out of free time to re-do the message, I just give up. Lately, I've been saving the posts midstream (as a precaution) and continuing from there. Is it just me, or has my garage's resident poltergeist come to visit the computer? I see many double posts, and references to INTERNAL SERVER ERROR from time to time from other members... but I swear I didn't mean to put my ghost into the machine.:throw PC:

I hear ya. I have that problem myself from time to time.

The problem is the server. It's not the fastest server in the world. And when it gets busy (i.e. lots of people on) the server can't keep up.

We have been keeping an eye on server prices, and when the prices come down, or when they have a sale we will consider upgrading.

Meanwhile, if you have a long post, hilight the text and do a ctrl-c. That way if you get the error, you can always do a ctrl-v into another post.

Hope that helps!

I don't know what your hardware needs are but I bought one of these last year for my wife's new business:

HP Proliant Microserver

We're using it with Windows Home Server 2011. This is the first time I've messed around with a server but I thought it was a pretty slick setup. I don't know if this would work for you but FWIW. The price was as low as I could find at the time.

Hi Bruce,

We get our server through an ISP, and dedicated servers are not cheap. Wrapped into their prices are the usual, bandwidth, support, hardware, etc...

10-4. Maybe its time for a forum fundraiser to help with the costs?

We're still waiting for a sale! But I'll keep you posted.

Build up a war chest so you can jump when a sale happens.
