Thinking about turning PM's back on...

Postby mikeschn » Fri Sep 07, 2018 4:15 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm thinking about turning Private Messaging back on. What do you think?

I am for it.
To protect the board, I would make registration a bit more "verified" just to weed out spammers and the abusers. Maybe limit the ability to PM until after your first 10 posts.

:applause: Yes!!! If you don't, I think this forum is going to slowly go into a coma. It's slowing anyway because of van conversions clogging the Internet arteries. If nothing changes, the prognosis isn't good.

I know I was an early advocate for turning them off, but this is the only forum I'm on that did and I'm pretty sure it's the only one that has a human review every new registration. So... it's the one forum that should be least concerned. I'm not afraid to admit when I am wrong, and if it were me, I would turn them back on.

I believe (JMHO) that the Bill that caused all this fear was Ill conceived , just like so many things in our country that have been grossly distorted to serve political purpose instead of People purposes …
Our ability to communicate with each other is a fundamental right of a free society … Any abuses , that would adversely affect us all , can be monitored and censored by the Moderators …
I’ve been a Moderator on an amplifier building forum ( Wattkins.com) , and have to deal with spammers and idiots every day … and quite successfully too.. ( over 10 years now )

This is actually a very Civilized Forum , very nice people who want to Help each other , not argue … 8)

i admit to enjoying the luxury of using PM's on other forums where building and shop activities are discussed and documented w/ pics

several times i have used PM's to "pull a member aside" to discuss safety (amongst other issues) that really didn't need to be shared by the dole ham world...

PM's are a luxury and i enjoy having that luxuryq

just my $.02 worth this morning
