Mike, no offense taken. I knew exactly what you meant. Just thought I would tease you a bit.

Thanks for the great list!

Take care,

Prizes .... where is you money coming from for this stuff.

Mike do you have an address where I can donate some money to a good cause.

I do not have much extra but I could send 5 bucks or buy a prize and tell me where to send it to.

I know that where I work from time to time things come in that we can not sell. And sometimes they have old stock that you can get for a song. We reduce our stuff as much as 80 % Others may work for companies that they might be able to get for next to nothing if not free. I mostly can get houseware and homefashion stuff.

Places that are going out of business often have things for a low low price that otherwise could not be got.

Gift certificates is another direction. and could be bought with money that others send.

One guy who has a web site where he answers people questions asks they send him a 5 no checks accepted. just cash under the table so to speak.

here is a bunch of sites that give out free stuff what or how good or what do I have to do to get it is another ...
http://www.google.com/search?q=free+stu ... &hl=en&lr=

You might also check about.com and look up free those sites usually offer sites that have been tested.

Priszes I would want to win.

for my one day to be tear
fancy hooks, fancy drawer polls, full air mattrass,

camping in general
cook pans, binoculars, gift certificate from McDonalds or the like, books or paper backs on woodworking to trailering to camping, small portable radio,
and other simple stuff.

Mike ....

I keep looking for suff.

I will send them as I get small ones.

I found a very small thing you can give as door prize (it is something that goes on a door.) or third place and am looking for others

have been on Vac. and where I live in a Vac. land you do not need to leave home for long. I am starting to look at work.

I saw some Coke-a-cola things that could be displayed in a traditional tear as decoration ... would any one be interested in those.

If we all send Mike a buck he would have 300 + for pizes. And it could all be gift certificates. and we could report back what wonders we got.

I am not trying to presure anyone .... if you don't you don't.
I know I will not win any things for a long time.

will send soon as I find one more thing

Stuff I have given other campers that have been well received:

wind-up led lantern/radio
portable battery-powered speakers
weather radio
kamp pal (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5223224)
roll-top table
sling-back chair with footrest (http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Sports-Cannon-Folding-Footrest/dp/B00004TBL5)

Stuff you tend not to buy for yourself, but you love it when you get it. Many manufacturers will donate prizes for a mention or a small ad in the thread. You should ask ... what are they going to say besides 'no'? Hope that helps.

Walgreens Photo department does them any time of the year, plus they are decent price and can be done from the computer at home.

Prizes

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Sat Oct 25, 2008 11:48 am

Mike, thanks for all your effort and thought to "reward" us with prizes. Depending on what you pick/receive you could always let the winner pick their prize from what you might buy or get donated. I'd be happy to donate a free registration to the IRG 3.0 (2010) for a prize and perhaps others holding gatherings elsewhere may be inclined to do likewise.

I've found that some Popular items include things with a teardrop theme...such as a Teardrop clock, mug, T-shirt, etc. lightweight and easy to haul in your tear. Other items include camping flashlights, smaller dutch ovens, and cooking accessories/cookbooks for DO.

There were so many good suggestions given, and I also like the idea of a gold star for bragging rights or a designated thread with the "winners" posted .... kind of like a Wall of Fame. One could locate winners of the design contest, messiest shop, etc. all on one thread!

Thanks again for your thoughtfulness and desire to make this thread a fun one,

Joanie :R
