Surprise announcement

Postby mikeschn » Tue Sep 14, 2004 4:19 am

This is great news... I just have to share with you guys... It looks like Steve is going to be building a Lil Diner shell for us and for the board.

Steve is going to do a web page documenting construction of the shell. I am going to do a web page documenting the drawings and construction details. That way anyone here that wants to build a Lil Diner will have the information.

Steve may not be able to start until Decemberish, but then again, who knows... This is exciting, Steve is a top notch craftsman, as evidenced by his striped teardrop, and his boat building. We thank Steve and look forward to working with him!

Thanks,

Mike...

okay, so how many stools will it have? Can I get hash browns with my over-easy's?/g/

Looking forward to what you guys come up with..... Steve has some creative stuff (I plan on using his hatch/seal design on my tear) and really nice construction..... And you with your CAD are a very dangerous person. Just when I think you are done, and I can incorperate your ideas.... you move your a/c unit.. again../g/

This board has made my tear better, easier to build, and sharing is always more fun than thinking I am the only nut doing something like this....... hmm... vanity plate: "IMANUT".....

My motorcyle plate is LTZ.ROL, double entendre.......

Hey Mike,
Looks like you do get to have your cake and eat it too. 8)
(Now just find someone else to do the kitchen floor and you'll really be set! :D )
This will be a great project to follow along with. I'm looking forward to picking up some electrical tips, by following along with Steve.

Hey Steve, make a note to add electrical tips for Dean!!!

Mike...

P.S. Does that mean I'll have to bring the teardrop back to you for electrical? Or are you going to build the electrical into the shell? What a concept!!!

I have an electrical tip: you never have enough outlets....

I ran 4 wires (for 4 specific things). I should have run a fifth one to the front of the tear 'just in case'....... I have thought about adding a car radio.... guess what? No place to hook it up.... will have to go under the trailer....

I ran a conduit from the front of the trailer to the galley bulkhead. All the wiring to the running lights, and the galley, run through it. I left a string(30 year electirician) in the conduit for future use.
The conduit protects wiring from the elements, as well as, allowing expansion.

Mike, Can do! The pre-wire. Just tell me where and what!

I direct this posting to Mr. Frederick the electrician!!

Have heard of your tip about leaving a string in the conduits for future expansion... However, if you use it, then you don't have a string for more again (I know, I know, my English teacher will punish me for that)...

So what would be the best thing to do: pull another string along with the expansion wire?

Just Curious

That would be good. Also when you pull in the new string, may sure to keep it separate from the wire , otherwise it will wrap around the wire and be useless for the next pull

Mike,
This sounds like a great idea. Do you or Steve have any specs on the Lil Diner. I am curious weight and tongue weight. Looking forward to this.
