Got some more done yesterday and today. I cut the front ribs from 1x2's and glued and screwed them. Then i decided to take it for a tow around my neighborhood to see how it tracks and handled some small bumps...

So I got some stuff done the last few days. The second door is cut out, the front window is cut out, insulation is in... About the insulation; I didnt know this but apparently 1/2" rigid pink foam insulation is 9/16" thick  I glued all the foam in and then decided to shave it all down with a 40 grit disc on my D/A sander. It worked quite well but now i have pink foam dust on EVERYTHING... it vacuums up ok but it got everywhere still. On to the pics:

I also built a mini door mockup so i could finalize all my door variables...

That's it for now... more soon I hope. It snowed here today so I think winter has finally begun....

You might also consider using a spray adhesive on your pink EPS. Because the adhesive disolves the foam, it might take it down to the right thickness. If not, you'd still have less to sand! :o

I hate it when my router doesn't behave.

Man, this shot looks familiar! I can't tell you the number of times I've been in nearly this same position! (Well, actually,I can, but ... ;) ...)

We oughta make up a shirt with this image that says:
Been There ... Done That ... Here's The Shirt To Proove It!
(it's a teardrop thing ... you wouldn't understand ...)

Damn nice work, BTW! Can hardly wait to see this one finished!

Thanks Grant

All the hinges I found that I liked were way too expensive (in the $30 each range) so I ran over to dads shop and made up some hinge plates tonight. I'm making my own out of 1/8" steel plate and some weld on hinges from McMaster Carr (item #1071A22)

I see this cold weather is not keeping you down.

Looking better all the time.

Thanks for part #. I know that on my next one ( whoops, did i say that ?) I will have to build my own hinges. Those little beauties will make it much easier and probably work a whole lot better.

Hey stomperxj, I have been following your build your doing great, very inspirational. you probably already know how to fix this, But I have used Bondo to fix wood before and seems to hold up great. Keep up the good work. :applause:

Hey Endo - i saw your comment on my youtube vid... Nothing to speak of lately. It has been super cold and snowy for the last couple weeks and the only nice days like today have been taken up with Jeep stuff. I tore apart my front axle chasing a bad noise a couple weeks ago and everything checked out there so today i tore out the transfer case and i'm in the process of getting that back together... Looks like it should be around 40* the rest of the week so I might get out there to do something...

Thanks for checkin in 8)
