Interesting idea.

Would you figure that this would sleep 2 or 4?

I have 2 boys and 2 girls so sleeping 4. thinking for them.
13, 10 and 9
would be tight for 4 adults, but doable.

Ahhh, ok. (I'm guessing there are twins in there someplace?)

That should work on for 4 kids. Until they get bigger, anyway.

Curious where the adults plan on sleeping?

The parents plan on sleeping in the trailer I am building now.
Pillow placement was picked out by Gremlin.
I thought they would sleep with head out. Figure about 3 feet opening 3 and half at the most. with the hatch lowered it would be about 6 foot long sleeping area

This is a really cool concept. I am really looking forward to seeing this build unfold.

That's interesting. Do you have any more sketches?

Yeah we will see if this build gets off the ground. i didnt put the wheels in the sketches not sure where they would go. narrow sleeping area i admit but for kids i think enough. simple build. Mattress and canvas fold into sleeping area then hatch closed.

Purple and brown canvas
Red hatch
Black plywood
Pink opposite hatch
Blue mattress

thinking about it and to keep it ultra simple make the lights normal 120 volt light with a low watt or compact fluoro. no battery just simple AC set up. I also wonder in the future with the kids gone would it have any other use other than a his and hers sleeper.

Ya know, looking at this design again, you could do a 2 person sleeper with a galley the same way.

Have the back end be a traditional galley. Have the front be the fold out sleeping compartment.

Could squeeze the whole thing into a box that is 4'wx4'Hx4-5'L

You could actually build this on the 48"x40" HF trailer.

Hmmmmm....
