I'll be trading this off to a fellow for a 1964 VW Bus this week. I'll try to post some more photos soon. The guy has the
same matching Hehr Camper Windows in his 1967 EZ Camper VW Bus that he'll be towing this Camping Trailer with.

You better post more pictures. That just cruel posting one pic. Plane cruel. If you have a photo hosting site, ( photobucket ) you can just post the link. I would like to see a picture of it attached to his WV bus. Or a bug for size reference. The smaller tires and the side skirting really makes it look larger then it is. Interior Photo if you can please as well.

Thanks

Yes this is a small camper. It's basically a really comfortable bed on wheels. I call them Jerad's Mini Canned Hams. The width is 4' and the length is a little over 9' on the body minus the tounge. I used taller tires this time but the floor of the trailer still limits even that tire size. I raised this one 8" on the frame from my first one because it will be towed with a taller vehicle...... 67 VW Bus. I use a power converter from a pop up camper and then install some other goodies to that system. I wanted to make a weekend campout with this guy to show him the ins and outs of his new trailer. That's not going to happen like I wanted. I will be in heavy contact with him I'm sure. I cannot wait to see pics myself. I have had black and white striped canvas awnings made for each side. Be patient as I'll be waiting on him for pics of the entire rig.

I tugged it out of the shop and into the front yard today for my VW friend Louis to take home.

It was funny to see it outside really. It was neat to see how happy Louis was to be pulling away with it. Now I can go pick up the 1964 VW Bus I traded it for!

No worries. I have to get some of the last pics I took onto my computer. These were snapped with my camera on my phone and his phone.

That is just awesome! I agree with Junkboy. Please post some more pictures.

Also, could you shed some information on the following please:

1. Are those vintage Hehr windows or did you fab those yourself?
2. What is the purpose of the vented hatch in the back>?
3. Did the rear bumper come from a vehicle? If so, can you say what vehicle?

Thank you and fantastic job again!

Take care,
Tom

The side windows are in fact vintage Hehr Windows. They are the same type used to convert an early Panel Delivery Volkswagen Bus into an EZ Camper Bus. The guy that I built the trailer for owns a 1967 EZ Camper VW Bus and had these windows as spares which I completely took apart and restored them to like new condition with parts from Vintage Trailer Supply. They were in horrible condition when I got them. I installed all new glass, all new regulators , glazing and body seals and I used a specialty riveting tool to reassemble them. I have an air conditioner hidden inside in the back. It draws air in from underneath the camper and expels it out of the rear vented hatch. There is some crafty custom ducting to do that. I also have a drain drip tube that allows the water to drain out below the camper. The bumper is what's known as a "Briz" bumper. It is a ribbed aluminum extrusion. The company that manufactures them makes them for all types of vintage cars. I bought one that was made for a VW Beetle and then I bent it mostly flat leaving a slight curve to it and then modified the aluminum Beetle BumperBrackets that you can purchase for the bumper. The bumper was too long and my Uncle who is a marine fabricator helped me to cut the ends of the bumper off and polish them up again at the same contour they were originally. He had to use a special bender to adjust the bumper brackets to the new contour of the bumper after I mostly straightened the bumper out. The rubber grommets where the brackets enter the body are actual vintage beetle bumper bracket fender grommets. I had a friend that sold me a NOS set..... they dress it up really nice. The bumper does not come drilled so placement of the bolts is up to where your brackets are placed. My uncle also polished up 4 stainless steel carriage bolts for mounting the bumper. He even hand filed the holes square for me so the carriage bolts would "lock" in. I'm especially proud of how the bumper turned out.
