Remember Aluminum Folding Web Chairs?

Postby RKH » Sun Jun 10, 2007 10:16 am

Of course you do.

Haven't been around much but thought I'd ask for some assistance 'coz if anyone knows where to buy something, it's you guys.

"She who must be consulted" (in other words, REAL management) likes folding aluminum webbed lawn/beach chairs. The ones we'd been using at home have given up from metal fatigue after being re-webbed more than once.

Does ANYone know where new ones can be found? I found used ones on eBay but fear the metal fatigue issues are still there.

In preparation for being eternally grateful,

Keith you might find them at an outdoor store but the chairs I found at Walmart are not as large, have a weight limit (mean they break) and flimsy. MHO.

Good luck 8)

Thanks, all.

I finally found them (the last two they had) today at the KMart close to work instead of the stores closer to home. Our "local" Walmart, Target, Kohls did not have them. I didn't get as far as the Dollar General or Family Dollar stores.

We have been using them as porch chairs since they dry more quickly than some others. (Small porch, blowing rain if you forget to take them in gets them wet.) They also sit you up a little higher than the popular camp/bag chairs that you can find everywhere from $8 on up. ("vintage" knees are suffering their own form of metal fatigue. :o )

In case anyone else is looking, I found some similar chairs online at the RV supply places but they had the large single piece of polypropolene (sp?) for the seat and another for the back. Would have probably functioned as well but not really what we wanted.

Most places like KMart & WalMart get a big order of lawn furniture in the spring and when it's gone, it's gone.

Yup if there is any left at the end of Summer, they discount them to make room for holiday stuff.

Yep, K-Mart!!! I imagine Wally-World et al don't have any because they'll be putting out the Christmas stuff next week. Do they make those aluminum assist chairs, the kind that lift you up when you want to stand?

Have ya noticed the Chinese Walmart folding chairs keep getting shorter and shorter? I'm gonna have to cut the legs off our camping table that is vintage American made. What's up with that?

Just another update. Since this was originally posted, the KMart chairs have given up but we found stronger, USA-made replacements at http://www.lawnchairusa.com/
I recommend these!

I bought some really nice ones at Target last spring. I also have seen some a Wal-Greens during the summer.
