Women on the board

Postby Teardropper Wannabee » Sat Jan 29, 2005 5:07 pm

I was just curious. How many women are there that participate on this board? Are there mostly men who build their own Teardrops? Are there any women who enjoy their Teardrops but their spouse or significant other don't? Just wondering what your stories were. ;)

My partner and I both want a teardrop but I'm the one with the most time for planning and reading the board. He has basically told me to draw up the plans and he will build it. :)

I'm the one with the trailer addiction in my family. Trouble is, I can't hardly put a shelf on the wall straight. Luckily Bob, my hubby, thought the teardrop trailers were neat and said if I really wanted one, he would build it for me.

I'm also into the ham radio hobby, where the men far out number the woman. I love the radios, power supplies, antennas, etc....

I must be weird!

There are several women building their own tears here. Hopefully they will let you hear more. Over at the Molded Fiberglass Travel Trailers Site that I Frequent there are quite a few that travel by themselves in th the little Scotty's and such. A lot of good info there.

I am currently building my own tear, welding the chassis and all!! The guys on the board are incredibly supportive, and with their knowledge and advice I know I will do a great job. Since there isn't a guy in my life, I tend to do everything on my own, from remodeling my house to building furniture, etc... I was a sculpture major in undergrad school, and I have built up quite an arsenal of tools over the past ten years. Now I am busy trying to organize the shop, so I can get back to building the tear. I am aiming to get it completed by early summer, so I really have to get going on it soon! As soon as I get started again I will start posting photos.

Amy :)

So...I take that it's a keeper, right?
I do have another female Emoticon, but I took her down off of the board because she wasn't getting used.

Well....OK.... I'll just let you ladies get back to your discussion.

Oh... Just one thing....
...A gal that has her own power tool and knows how to use them....
What an attribute!!!

We work as a team. I'm (Lois) the one who does most of the planning and designing. Roger does most of the building and finish work... with me acting as carpenter's helper. We did some construction at my sister's house a couple of weeks ago. She commented several times that we never even talked about the "next step"... both of us just moved into postion and completed the task. I can use the major power tools, but certainly not with the skill or finess that Roger does. There are a couple - the Sawzall and something that fires a nail into cement using a 22 caliber blank that scare me to death!!

Dean,
Wow, that Emoticon has some beautiful eyelashes. I must ask her what brand of mascara she's using. :lady:

My wife expresses more and more interest as my tear gets closer to being finished. When it's done, I think it's gonna be tough keeping her away from it.

Cathy and Bev,
I thought the ladies here would like that one better than this one...
:lips:
(I had just taken this one down, but somebody voted for it on Ron's Poll, so I'll stick her back in the mix)

Dean,
Uh...now that's just darn right scary!

I'm not EVEN going to ask what lipstick she's wearing...I don't even want to know!

Postby Jan Keller » Sun Jan 30, 2005 9:33 pm

Today, I received my first pictures, on line, of my teardrop trailer from
CampInn!!! Soon, I will be on the road! I hope to have my first trip,
on the first day of spring, which also happens to be my 49th birthday.
I will be travelling with my dog, Wolfie.
