If you read the real story on that grizz you will find that it had not and did not charge the people who shot it. It was going about its business when the #$%&@#$ Air Force murdered it. As an Air Force vet, I can say that. And I do. It takes a true unadulterated JERK to do something like that "for fun."

Of course YMMV.

I agree with you 100%. I would never shoot an animal that I do not intend to eat. I guess people do eat bears but they seem too scarce to hunt for food. But I would never let myself or a family member get mauled without putting up one heck of a hail of gunfire. I like bears and all but you have to draw the line somewhere. I think, though, that I have a better chance of getting struck by lightening in the wilderness than getting attacked by a bear.
