Thanks for the compliments. Becca, and Cliff.
I do fear I'll become to obsest with collecting and end up on the "Horders" show. My girlfreind says I'm on the way.
I like older things and off the wall oddities. Guess that kind of describes me. Getting older and odder.
Steve, your wife did a good job on your desk and chair. :applause:

My twenty dollar estate sale find. 15 hours of sanding, some new drawer bottoms and knobs added.

Very nice! Most of our furniture was purchased at yard sales or consignment stores!

Well to continue the "thrift thread"

Brand new neighbors 2 doors down had a wiz bang of a yard sale so curiosity got the better of me and I had to go sniff around.

Well to make a long story short everything I came home with was teardrop camping/building related.

I had been actively looking for a 4x4 first up style pop up as a porta potty shelter and guess what they had......... I have been shopping on line and the little 4x4's are as expensive or more expensive than the 10 x 10's so when I saw the price tag at $30.00 I was overjoyed. Walking up to pay I passed two steralite 3 drawer storage cubes at $2.00 each. These are just right as silverware and cooking utensil drawers. Just screw them under the top and instant drawers. I picked up 5 cassette tapes (yes I have a cassette player in the teardrop) for a buck. Making my treasures total $35.00. When I got to the lady of the house who was cashier I jokingly pulled out a $20.00 and ask if this would cover it all and she agreed. I damn near fell over. As I left I asked the man of the house what the brand new class 3 hitches he had laying about fit. He replied 08 -10 full size dodge P/U. His mother worked at Chrysler and somehow wound up with these 3, each of which were marked $35.00 Well guess who has an 09 full size Dodge P/U with a home made hitch on it now. I told him I had already spent my allowance but if he got tired of tripping over it to see me and I would see what I could do. Went home and told my sister about all my treasures and the one that got away and she went down to see what she could find. Upon her return about 20 minutes later she tells me to go get my hitch that she had just paid for. ($20.00) . Saturday was a real good day :D

That's pretty good! Where's the pics?

Oh, and those Steralite drawer things? Screwing the op into the wood is good, as long as the bottom comes in contact with some support. Otherwise, they do come apart. :D

Cliffy ~~~Where were you when I needed ya !

The one in the pic exploded 3 weeks ago ( After 2 years of service)

It was hung from the top with no support that was why it died.
The road impact finally fractured the plastic around the top
and the sides gave way and seperated from the top.

I was so happy to find a cheap replacement.

And yes it will have a support built in under the new one!

Guess I had better get busy and retrofit a support under the other one in "Barn to be wild" also.

Bob, here's all my Sterlite cabinets/drawers - painted. I didn't have to attach anything because they sat on top of each other snuggly. It was almost like they were made to fit under there perfectly.

Bobhenry, here's a shot of my Sterlite drawers. Bought after I decided that doors would not work on the galley cabinets. Fits perfectly!

Other recent treasures...

70 watt inverter (it works!) $1.99 at Goodwill
Image

3 pair of bike riding sunglasses, brand new, $0.99 each at Goodwill

Image

2 jugs of water softener cleaner at Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, $4.00 each. Our Culligan water softener quit working 4 months ago (it's 6 years old), and Culligan wanted over $500 to fix it. Said it needed new resin. I followed the directions and dosed it with this stuff and now we have soft water again!

A bag of self taping screws, $1.99, Goodwill

Image

Expandable grill grate, brand new, for a future outdoor cooking station, $1.99, Goodwill.

Image

3 drawer set of drawers, will be used in the garage, $6.00, Value Village. Notice the drawers are 100% extension!
