Chip, a while back, I had thought about that, but right now, my battery box, hung under the trailer, only has 6" of clearance and the ground to frame bottom distance is pretty good. So, I don't think I can lower it much, so the top will have to go...
If I was building another one, I think I would forego the h/f trailer and use Andrew's double tongue design with a torsion axle. Seems like it would be a very decent base for a teardrop.
For now, I'll chop the top... surprisingly, it changes the character of the trailer from pillsbury doughboy to crouching tiger....
Will keep you all posted about when I start.. am working out my summer schedule... I want 2 full weeks of no travel to get it done right. Just getting mattress, shelves, etc., out is a pain in the butt. Getting an 8" queen-size foam through the door stresses our relationship....
