Obsessed

Postby Fyddler » Fri Apr 26, 2013 12:59 pm

I think I may need psychological help. I seem to be obsessed with my build, I daydream during the day, building each part over and over in my head, and dream of camping in it at night. Please, someone tell me I'm not alone?

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Build it in your head several times, built it for real ONCE. I usually spend more time thinking about how to go about something than I spend actually doing it. The goal is to do it as simply as possible and get the desired outcome. Less is better. Simple=Elegant!

Cheers,

Gus

You are not the only one afflicted with this particular malady. When it's finished (in a couple of weeks) I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do with that portion of my brain that has been committed day and night for the past 2 years to my teardrop build.

Dutch oven is on the top of my "to purchase" list. Daily search on Craig's list so far has been a bust!

Built my first one in 1988. And after Many, Many, Many more I still have the same affliction!

I just do what the voices tell me!

Thanks! I have been looking locally at goodwill (I shop there weekly). Didn't know they had an auction site.

Seems like all the good cast iron winds up on the auction site.

I have picked up 3 or 4 nice skillets at the local store but I am in at least 4 times a week during lunch. You have to be there quick or they are gone.

That Texsport cast iron dutch oven is a good starter one. Don't let the rust bother you it will clean up and reseason well.

The 12 "ers are a nice size and the one most d.o. recipes are sized for.

You are not alone. I've been working on mine for over a year now, and it's been like that the whole time.

Thanks again for the tip! I was winning bid at $16.99 plus tax and handling. U picked it up today! 8 quarts is a bit bigger than I was anticipating. Now to clean it up.

For a cure, I prescribe taking two coleman lanterns. Repeat until urge to build diminishes. 8)
Okay, judging from some of the board members, you may need something heavier, like dutch ovens.
Just kidding, there is no known cure for your condition, and it will last far longer than your bank account or supply of band-aids.
