Forum vs ZoneAlarm Pro

Postby WoodSmith » Thu Oct 27, 2005 8:21 pm

I use Zone Alarm Pro for my firewall and have a strange problem. I load the "View posts since last visit" page and can read the forum for a "while" with no problems, then I start getting "page not found" errors. If I hit the back button, I can get the page I'm looking for a few more times, but then even that stops working.

If I close ZAP, I can continue with no probs, but I don't like surfing unprotected even here. Otherwise I only get to read maybe 30 or 40 topics.

If you have a broadband connection, get a router that supports NAT to put between your computer and the outside world. This is a natural hardware firewall and it means you won't have to use Zone Alarm anymore.

Or you could do like I do and use an operating system with its own built-in firewall and no need for virus/spyware/malware/adware checkers. :D

I don't know of any other solutions other than what Mike has already suggested. Does Zone alarm have different levels of security? Maybe you could lower your security level?

I have noticed odd errors when add, and script blocking are used. Try them disabled.

While watching Mythbusters and reading tonight, I fiddled with my settings, looks like blocking Banner/Skyscraper ads is the culprit. If I don't block them, no probs, blocking them causes loading issues.

I'd like to get a HW firewall, but it just ain't in the budget right now.

Might be some other problem. I use Zone Alarm Pro and a router firewall with no problems. Have you installed Microsoft's spyware program?
