DIY Weber Smoker

There are a few caveats:
-Aluminium/aluminum melts at 600C/1112F which if the BBQ is cranked up can cause the sleeve to melt.
-Allegedly Aluminium causes Alzheimer's disease
-This sleeve may "off gas" as I have no idea what it's been coated with
-This video is for entertainment purposes.

In my first attempt just to check temperatures, the sleeve was cool enough for me to hold it with an open palm for about 10 seconds.
Smoking does not really need is not a hot fire so I'm sure this is going to be safe and do the job; I'm going to use it beside the risks.

When I smoke my first chicken, pork, turkey or anything else, I'll let you know how it tasted, if I survive

That's a super idea Grant, It looks just the thing to smoke fish and eels. What kind of wood (chips?) do you use for smoking the goodies? What have you smoked so far?

There is a company over here making those kits. It is steel and works quite well. My friend has one and uses it all the time. All he does is make a ring of charcoal around the outside edge of the grill ,leaving about an 8" gap. Light one end and let it slowly burn around the ring. Good luck and let us know how it works.

At long last I've managed to test it out.
Put on chicken and pork with a Southern Succor Rub http://www.camp-cook.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3626
Southern Succor Rub
1/4 cup ground black pepper
1/4 cup paprika
1/4 cup Turbinado sugar
2 Tablespoons table salt
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

The results were awesome; cooking is a little like magic, you put a few things together, add heat and "ta da" it changes into something delicious (most of the time).

I can highly recommend this sleeve for the weber bbq.
