I wonder who built the road, and how long did it take them to do so ?
Also, quite bizarre that they had to drive through a waterfall
that high up !

Cheers,

After trailing behind the Northern Lite Traveler on our UP camping trip last fall I would have said I'd follow you anywhere Fred. Now? I don't think so  :R

I'd love to go on that road!

I'd probably be a bit scared...but it would be worth it!

Yes. The worst thing about traveling that road would be meeting something big. I suppose that was one of the reasons the one guy scouted ahead on foot. We've done trails where I think I've walked as far as I've driven. As far as there being a big drop off that is no problem. The correct mental attitude is what counts, IMO. A twenty foot drop can kill you as well as a thousand. The thousand footer might be more od an assured demise though. . :R

20 ft. drop necessitates the carrying of recovery gear. Just useless extra weight for 1000' :R

looks like the Bolivian "Death road" started in the 30's finished in the 90's, parts of it were built by POW's from the "soccer war", American and other international companies. The type of road I would do on an all terrain motorcycle if I had to go there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yungas_Road

Made me remember the Peruvian Andes, many a time you simply prayed the driver was not drunk.
