any decoy makers / collectors ?

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

any decoy makers / collectors ?

Postby tac422 » Sun Feb 23, 2014 9:31 pm

So I saw some canvas covered working decoys while on a excursion last weekend. I liked them enough to come home and look up how to make them.
I already had almost everything, I used some scrap pine, leftover paint and canvas scrap left over from The BIg Pink.

Here's my attempt:
2x4 cut for head and neck
117079

added the bill, wooden frame and wires
117080

with strings and braces
117081

covered in canvas
117082

painted
117083

Still have to paint the bill and the eyes... thinking about a snow goose paint job.

It was a fun little project, so I thought I'd post it here, does anybody here have any interest in Decoys ?

Now that you have two, there are bound to be more showing up. Soon you will have a flock.

Foam decoys are a big thing for hunters, lots of info on the interwebs ...
such as:

Canvas covered foam, they're also on my list of things to do. :)

and yes, I'll be using Big Pink scraps. :D
