A New Kind od Ax

My son thought I needed this ax. It sure looks like it would save some time.

Interest design and function. Three problems:

The first two problems are related, and I have the same two problems with any newly designed shovel or axe, mainly, too little of me on one end and too much work on the other end.

The other problem is price--193.12 euros= approx $265 US. Yikes.

Guess it is worth it if you have to chop lots of wood. Luckily, not an issue for me . . .
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Right Tony, we have the same first 2 problems. Also, I don't believe that was tough ol' american elm, hickory, or twisted oak that guy was splittin'... ;)

I'm watching that ax head spin with every blow and thinking...NUH UH!

And I agree, there's no way that warm hickory or elm is going to split like the frozen spruce they are using in that video.
The more stuff I take along, the more time I spend taking care of my stuff!

I think there's something lost in the Finnish /English translation. It's a splitting maul, not an axe. Axes are for cutting. Sure, they work okay for some splitting jobs but that isn't what their main intent was.

My two bits.
