Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Thanks for all the replies. I bought a phone off eBay and expect it to suit my needs. I'm not into photography, but need to take a quick picture now and again. The slim profile of the phone and big screen were my first priorities.

I do agree with everyone else a good pocket camera takes superior photos vs phone cameras. But, there is a way to come out with best possible quality photos if you go the phone camera route. The Olioclip or magnetic lenses from Photojojo are excellent and give you options like macro, fisheye, wide angle, and/or a small amount of zoom. And they're all tiny and will fit in a purse/backpack/jacket pocket no problem. The second half of great phone pictures is to use a photo editing app like Snapseed.

Have fun with your new phone camera!

Now that you (almost) have that smart phone but not any of the available phone attachments yet, try some of these:

PS. Which phone did you select?

I bought an Android 4.2 3G based on price. Since I will not be getting any phone service I can't download any apps...right?

If it has WiFi capabilities, then you can download if you have a WiFi signal.

With wi-fi you can get Google Voice on it and use as a phone whenever you have wi-fi available.
