I carve tikis and Polynesian inspired bone pendants, and paint with Polynesian themes. Haven't touched the stuff in over 5yrs though, might revisit it one of these days. http://tikimangoart.com/

I was busy in November making a smaller dining table of my own design for our home. I've been collecting Canary Wood and Figured Western Maple for some time now, the legs are made from 12/4 American Black walnut spendy stuff.
Here it is in the 36" wide x 48" long daily use size. The dark spots are Walnut dowels for expansion/contraction issues with solid wood table tops.
Here it is fully extended with two 15" x 36" leaves. Love the way the finish makes the Figured Western Maple pop. The chairs we will be using are the folding chairs ( in the photo) we purchased at Costco, easier and cheaper than building and easy to store.
Now it looks like (Jane's request & mine too) I'll be replacing the sofa end tables and coffee table I built in 1988 to match the new table. The finish is spar urethane to prevent damage to the finish (it's waterproof) in the event of a undetected spill like on the previous veneered table. Danny

Thanks guys. It was my first attempt at making a extension dining table. Danny

Very nice work, Tom. I always wanted to build one of those 50's style recurves, but I got stuck on selfbows and eventually ran into elbow problems that limited my tool use. Still love to shoot 'em, though!
The more stuff I take along, the more time I spend taking care of my stuff!
Thanks Js, I love making them. I haven't got the confidence to make a selfbows yet. Making a selfbow is on my to do list but first I have 2 projects I want to build before then. Which one is my teardrop camper and the second is a cedar strip canoe.
