Can Your Subaru Hit 175 MPH?

Postby MtnDon » Sat Jul 02, 2016 2:16 pm

Subaru has been a sponsor of the Isle of Man TT races for about 5 years. FYI, the TT (Tourist Trophy) is a motorcycle race. Subaru runs their specual factory works rally STI over the 37 mile road course. Here's a story / article, and here is a 20 minute video of the run 'round the course that set the record. The video begins with championship rally driver Mark Higgins completing the warm up lap and continues into the 17 1/2 minute record breaking lap. Video is the drivers eye view out the front windscreen.

Can my Subaru hit 175? Only if you push it out of an airplane.

Mine would probably only do a little over 150. I'm driving a Forester XT, which since 2014 has the WRX driveline with CVT in it.. And I have exhaust, intake and Cobb A/P installed. :D

Great video. The car shows a different way of going around, different corner lines etc. Mark Higgins (WRX Driver) average speed was 128.7 MPH where as the top average speed for the bikes this year was 133.6 MPH. The car was doing up to 170 MPH while the average bike was hitting 200 MPH. Thanks for this post, I have spent the last hour watching lots of other Isle of Mann videos. It is a cold winters day here in SE Australia.
