12 volt electrical outlet

Postby Duane King » Fri Apr 13, 2007 5:46 pm

I purchased several stainless steel cigarette lighter style 12 volt outlets that I am about to put into my trailer. They did not come with any kind of schematic. There are two places to attach leads. One is the center post which comes from the center of the plug hole. The other is the cylinder body of the socket itself.

So, which is negative and which is positive?

No negative comments so far, I'm positive that the "shell" is negative....

ats the way I wired mine.

Shell (outside) negative (Bleck)
Center positive (Red)

My Aliner DC was wired with Bleck and White -- White neg. Bleck Pos.
I used a yellow fuse wire for inline fuse which I connected to the white positive. Then I added a on/off switch that had red and black wires to break the battery out of the converter circuit . Just recently sold it. Hope the new owner loves puzzles :? It was wired wierd of that I am positive.

If it's not broken, you're not trying hard enough.
