2 Generators ???

I have a Yards Works 950 watt sine wave generator works good and very quiet, Is there anyway I can couple 2 of these together when on the occasion I have the need for more power, over 950 watts?

Putting two generators in parallel requires that their outputs be synched in phase - The output sine waves must begin at the same time or they would partially cancel one another

To my knowledge, this is only possible with inverter generators because their frequency output is independant of the engine RPM and because they can be electronically synched via the inverters they use. You can only do that on a pair of inverter generators which are designed to be synched together, like the small Hondas - Don't think anyone else (not even Yamaha) offers that feature

It is realy cool that you can parallel 2 Hondas to double the output. The downside is that even Honda has the ports to parallel them they, Honda, do not sell a parallel box. The only boxes available are not made by Honda. I know for a fact that sometimes things go wrong when paralleling and it will burn up the inverters in both genis. Honda will not cover this damage under warranty.

You say that you need more power? How about running 2 genis and put some of your load on one and some on the other. The other option is to buy one biger geni. How about a Honda EU200i?

Kipor now offers parallel operation as well on the 2000W unit... but I don't know about the smaller ones.

Since the inverter units only run as fast as required for the load, I think I would rather carry one 2000W unit than two 1000W units... and the big one running slowly probably won't make any more noise or use much more fuel than a smaller one running faster. One big one just seems simpler.

Actually, I think it's less in both cases - Less fuel and less noise both running one big one as opposed to two small ones

Thanks I guess another bigger Generator is the answer. I think I new the answer but at $359 and 60 db for the Yard Works I just had to ask.

I have the Honda 2k. It works great but it does cost $999. Well worth it. It should last a lifetime. It just barely putted along in MOAB when I was running my A/C at 115*. I also use it for work, running lights and power tools. The Hondas are easly rejeted for altitude.
