Breaker Box wiring help needed!

Postby slipperyd12 » Tue Jan 02, 2007 8:56 pm

Hi, Everyone

I ran four electrical runs in my camper. Got the box put in and breakers in. But the boxes are designed to be fed with 220, The top lug feeds the two outside breakers and the next lug feeds the two middle breakers. The only way I see to get it to work is a jumper wire between the supply lugs. But I am just not real sure how safe this is. How has everyone else wired up their box? Thanks John

Unless you plan to use all four lines to run Jackhammers I don't see a reason to install 4 breakers. Can't you go with a smaller box, and just have 2 breakers, one for airconditioning, and one for whatever else you run? what, a T.V., coffeemaker, fridge, toaster oven, microwave, blender, .....Hell, might  as well stay home.

Since your supply is going to be 110v, yes you can just jumper the two supply lugs together.....

Also is there a real need to have 4 breakers?... Not that its wrong, it just may be over kill on protection...

Breakers

Postby slipperyd12 » Wed Jan 03, 2007 8:40 am

The smallest box I could find was a four breaker. So I have it wired like this.

1. 5000 A/C
2. Microwave and outside plug
3. Cabin plugs for tv and lights
4 Galley plugs for electric cook top and battery charger

Thanks John

I used a very small "Square D" 30A 2 circuit breaker box # QO2L30SCP from Home Depot. I put in one 20 amp QO circuit breaker and have room for one more for whatever & whenever. I have no need for AC though. :D Danny

Breaker box wiring

Postby slipperyd12 » Wed Jan 03, 2007 1:57 pm

Hi, All
Thanks for the advice. I talked to a couple of electricians this morning. They both agreed that a 10 ga. jumper wire would be just fine for no more than I will be running. I installed it and everything works fine.

Thanks John
