I chose Lifeline http://www.lifelinebatteries.com/ Lifeline batteries are the best you can buy and are used in fighter aircraft. Here is another article on these batteries http://cojoweb.com/rv-batteries.html

The only local distributor is a boating supply and their website prices a group 27 at $349. Ouch! I thought Optima's were expensive. Of course, we have probably also crossed the line into "boat parts" and that automatically includes a premium.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

"Best" isn't easily quantified and is entirely dependant on what you use to measure 'best' with

One important measurement between different batteries is the Peukert Coefficient. As a general rule of thumb, the lower the Peukert number, the better the battery and while they vary a little with the size and style of the battery, Optima typically has lower PC's than even Concorde does . . . . Concorde makes Lifelinebatteries

Long story short, while Concorde does indeed make some excellent batteries, I wouldn't pay more for one of them than an equally rated Optima sells for

Don I did my research before I bought the Lifeline and every test and comparisin put it at the top and after trailer life magazine did a test I was sold. Even the guy at the battery place said it charges faster and puts out at a slower rate than others. The lifelines are also the safest batteries and are FAA and DOD approved, Did you read some of those articles, most other battery companies just say how they compare to conventional batteries. Here is another http://www.dcbattery.com/lifeline_release.html
One thing I didn't like about the lifeline is they are heavier than the other batteries I looked into.

Yup - I'm very familiar with Concorde . . . . and with DC Battery Specialists in Miami - I bought the Optima in my Miata from them in September of 2000 and paid $80 including shipping to my door - No tax

It's 7 years + old now and still spins the car over as fast as it ever did. I should get 10 years + from it . . . . not bad for $80

As to 'charging faster and putting out at a slower rate' you have just described (in laymen's term's) the definition of Peukert's Coefficient . . . . and the Optimas have an even lower number than the Concordes do. You bought a great battery . . . . but at $200 each, it should be great - Now you just need to hope it outlasts an Optima which would have cost you less money ;)

Don are you talking car battery or RV batteries. I think the Optima deep cycle was around $200.00 also and was rated at 100 amp hours compared to the 105 amp hour Lifeline. Concorde does make the lifeline and is different from there generic brand. I only paided $43.00 for my battery in my truck and just replaced it with a $38.00 after 5 years and still don't think the battery had to have been replaced. Here in Arizona they say getting 2 years out of a battery is the norm, I'm assuming they mean in a computer controlled car. My wifes battery only lasted 2 1/2 years in her 2004 Nissan. Of corse battery managment is key to long lasting batteries. I use my solar when boon docking but use my battery tender when shore power is available.

Yes, the Optima prices have gone through the roof in recent years - I paid $165 for my D-34 Yellowtop at Sam's Club a couple months ago and it's only a 55 AH battery . . . . your 105 AH at $200 is actually a better deal when you compare power to cost but it was a little heavy for my Little Guy ;)
