Fuses and Wire Guage

Postby fornesto » Thu Feb 17, 2005 12:54 pm

I'm in process with the wiring and want to make sure that I get everything right. I have a tendancy to over do things, but that's not always good when it comes to Electricity.

Here's my electrical layout.

Circuit 1: Two Interior Lights
Circuit 2: (2) 12V Receptacles, 12V Computer Fan
Circuit 3: (2) 12V Receptacles, Water Pump
Circuit 4: Galley Light, Two Porch Lights
Circuit 5: Unused
Circuit 6: Unused

Based on this layout, what guage wire should I use for each circuit? 12, 14, or 16? What size fuses should I use? 10 Amp, 15, 20, 30? Should I rearrange these? Any other comments?

BTW: The 12V receptacles will be used for a fan, a heater, a coffee maker, a blender, a dvd player, or other small applicances.

Did you check out the 1st sticky in this "My wiring plan"? From advise that I received from others and what seems to make sense, you might want each of the receptacles on their own circuit to prevent overload from a device that might draw more power than you realize at this time. bdosborn (Bruce) seems to know lots about the correct wire sizes.
