AC Electrical System in the Zephyr TD Part 1

Postby Dee Bee » Tue Apr 12, 2005 12:13 pm

Hi Zephyr Fans,
Some of you have emailed me saying how you appreciate the pics I post on my progress. I hope it either entertains you and you write to me about a better way to do what I am trying, or it helps you to try your hand at a TD.

Monday I had another chance to work on the Zephyr. Here are the pics.

Dee,

You know that 14-2 romex normally is only used for lighting. I am going to go with 12-2, which is the standard for normal household 110VAC wiring. I guess with only 15 Amps it should be OK.

Nice job on the Zephyr.

Dee Bee,

Where did you find that single breaker load box??

Geron
If it's not broken, you're not trying hard enough.

OK, Thanks, I'd checked HD and no luck. I'll try City Electrical and Plumbing. Never crossed my mind :duh

I think I saw the load box at Home Depot. It is rated for 30 amps, there are two breaker slots in the box.

I use a two breaker box and switch one on for shore power and the other for the inverter. I have made a slide protection so that only one swithch can be turned on at a time. A home made transfer switch. It works good and allows only one source of 120 to be used at a time.
