Just doesn't sound right to me. Reverse polarity on a relay coil should cause nothing to happen.

I was about 30' away when it happened. The whole system had reverse polarity, it wasnt necassarialy just the coil. Maybe something happened to cause the low current side of the coil to be energized, what ever happened the starter relay was a melted glob.
