Here is a look at what the batteries sort of look like

Good thing nobody is into lithium batteries here,
if you guys knew what the Chinese are making these these things for you would all rollover in your trailer.

Cheers OTTCT.

Well, tanks for one. Real tanks. With big, high torque electric motors.

And light helicopters and aircraft - Cessna size that will fly for an hour without making a sound.

Here’s a list of all the advantages of LiFePo4 batteries:

Safe technology — will not catch fire or explode with overcharge
Over 2000 discharge cycles life compared to typically around 300 for lead acid
Double the usable capacity of similar amp hour lead acid batteries
Virtually flat discharge curve means maximum power available until fully discharged (no “voltage sag” as with lead acid batteries)
High discharge rate capability, 10C continuous, 20C pulse discharge
Unlike lead acid batteries, can be left in a partially discharged state for extended periods without causing permanent damage
Extremely low self discharge rate (unlike lead acid which will go flat quite quickly if left sitting for long periods)
Does not suffer from “thermal runaway”
Can be used safely in high ambient temperatures of up to 60C without any degradation in performance
Maintenance free for the life of the battery
Can be operated in any orientation
Does not contain any toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, nor any corrosive acids or alkalies thus making LiFePO4 batteries the most environmentally friendly battery chemistry available
LiFePO4 cells are of solid construction — there are no fragile/brittle plates made of lead which can be prone to failure over time as a result of vibration
Can be safely rapidly recharged — when fully discharged can be brought to a state of over 90% fully charged in 15 minutes

Too many amps drain makes them quite hot. Rapid discharge of lithium ion batteries is still a concern:

(Don't run your trailer's AC and clothes dryer at the same time. No problem in Casio watches though.)

P.S. I'd buy 12 volts worth. Couple of grand to the commies, no problem!

I'm gonna pound you guys into submission about Lithium batteries.......

If this won't make you PUKE your guts out, please shoot yourself in the head NOW!!!

This price might not be quite right .......but

this battery sells in the good old USA for $300- $450, WE ARE BEING RAPED

P.S. Prem , that battery has about 3 x the power density of these, no worries about blowing yourself up, in fact its quite impossible.

DIFFERENT battery chemistry; LFP are much much less of a worry. FYI, AGM lead acid batteries can suffer from the same thermal runaway under the right circumstances. It's a low risk though if the recommended charge profiles are used and the charger has a battery temperature sensor circuit.

http://www.cdtechno.com/pdf/ref/41_7944_0712.pdf

and this note from the Lifeline AGM battery manual....

DANGER OF THERMAL RUNAWAY
Thermal runaway is a condition in which the battery temperature increases rapidly
resulting in extreme overheating of the battery. Under rare conditions, the battery can
melt, catch on fire, or even explode. Thermal runaway can only occur if the battery is at
high ambient temperature and/or the charging voltage is set too high. Take the
following precautions:

Charge batteries in accordance with the instructions given in this manual.

Do not install batteries near heat sources or in direct sunlight that may artificially
elevate their temperature.

Provide adequate air circulation around the batteries to prevent heat build up.

Jerry,

If I understand correctly, for $1k I can get 100 of the 3.2v .......I only need 4 of them, so I can sell the other 96 for profit??? What is the freight cost to Texas??

MtnDon,

Keep them away from a heat source? Okay. Got it. I'll keep the head lamp thermally insulated from my forehead. I'm thinking with spray foam in a can.

;)
