Free software for wiring diagram ?

Postby AlienSKP » Tue Jan 20, 2015 2:06 pm

Hello
Does anyone know a good and free (or cheap) software to make wiring diagrams ?

I've been struggling with photoshop.. or I found no suitable software for my needs.
Basically, I need to design a circuit with solar panels, charge controller, batteries, outlets, lights, electric equipments such as fridge or pump.. being able to easily add items, move parts, make connections, etc

Thanks for your advice !

cheers
A

EDIT :

What I found from now :

I use an old copy of Visio, has all the symbols for electrical work. You can download an eval copy from M$ web site.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-visio-professional-2013

An other free program is https://www.lucidchart.com/ not sure if you register that it will have the symbols you need.
Has a MAC version too.

Given the size of my project, I am just resorting to the good old paper and pencil process.

Paper, pencils, straight edge & eraser are my main planning tools as well.

Bob, your user avatar has become lost. At least I can't see it on my 'puters.

Eraser; a really good one is second only to the pencils. :)

Thanks MtnDon.

I wonder how that happened?
Now I have to go and figure out again how to add one.

I can't see it. I think I have to do it from my main PC, not from my IPad. I will work on it tomorrow. I did it once, so I should be able to do it again.

I just use Microsoft "Paint".... I find images (correct electrical symbols) in "Google Image" library (search), copy and paste, blow them up, shrink them down, draw lines, erase lines, change colors of lines according to functions...

For me the the learning curve of sophisticated software was to big for what I needed to do.....

This is example of a "fuel system" (dual carburetors) for person who was having a concept problem on how to run fuel line plumbing...

This is simple wiring diagram on very elemental basics for getting engine to run on a "dune buggy"...

These are just examples of what you can do in Paint as simple diagrams (lots of copy and paste)....

Hi guys
Thanks for your answers.

I'm *not* complaining *but* most of your answers didn't help :? looks more like trolling than like help.

I don't want to be rude,I mean.. I'm already using pen & paper or photoshop right now, so using a pen or MS Paint is like asking a Navy Seal to use a bow and arrows ahahahahaah

I'm looking for a ****SPECIFIC**** software made to easily design a wiring diagram. I'm clever enough to use Google to help me find one, but I hoped there was people helpful enough to redirect me to a easy and suitable solution for my needs.

I think I'll go back to Google. No offence.

cheers
