Where to install A/C unit?

Postby Wishno » Tue Mar 17, 2015 1:46 pm

I have been instructed by the significant other to install an A/C unit in the teardrop we are restoring. Just one of those small window mount style ones. Where is the best place to put it? I have seen some in the front wall sitting on the tongue and others built into the galley but it looked like the back side was still vented into the cabin. I have also seen others that were built into the galley and the back side was vented to the outside air from the galley but it seems like you would need to leave the hatch open. So what's the best solution to this? Thanks guys.

Outside of the tear. There is an article on how I did it.

I was hoping for something a little more built in. I do like the remote ducting and controls though. Might build something based off that idea.

The easiest is to find a spot in the galley bulk head. Check the indexes under the design resources and it's got several different ideas.

I didn't do this build, it was manufactured for me. But as you can see they install small 5,000 btu ACs in the front area wall. It's pretty quiet so for now I am putting my full size trifold bed with the head under it. I like just sitting in the doorway and swinging into the bed. Easier than crawling in on all fours. And....... I don't hit my head that way :?

I'm going through a similar conundrum myself. My current set up has me remove my fridge and a panel in the bulk head to use the AC. I've only needed AC once in the last year and a half. I purchased the deck plates to do the hose install, but I can't decide where to put them....
