Aux power?

Postby Thelgord » Sun Apr 26, 2015 6:43 pm

I was looking at the wiring diagram for my 7 pin plug and notices a port for "Aux Power". Any ideas on what it could be used for?

That's where you plug in the flux capacitor. Make sure you use wire that is rated for 1.21 gigawatts. ;)

-or-

You can use it to charge your battery from the tow vehicle.

I believe that's where you can send power from the tow rig to the trailer. I use mine to charge the battery while driving.

Or for electric brakes.
I wouldn't imagine it would do the best job in the world at battery charging would it?
Here we generaly use battery sized cable and anderson plugs to charge

Brakes have their own terminal set. My 7 pole connector came with 10 gauge wire used for the Aux terminal set. Good enough for up to 30amps.

I use mine to charge the TD battery.... well, to maintain the charge while towing. It makes up for the 12V fridge, and adds a little bit more. With a 100amp battery at 50% it would probably take 5 or 6 hours to bring it back to 90%, but it helps.

Generaly here we use 13.5mm2 witch is 6 B&S.
It's heavy battery sized sized cable and used to eliminate voltage drop.
I'll be using this on mine as I've got 2 batteries in my land crusier and will run of those as well without to much voltage drop but I know our trailer plugs like almost anything electrical are very differnt
