FAKE Progressive Dynamics Power Centers

Postby absolutsnwbrdr » Tue Mar 08, 2016 9:13 am

I was just talking with my buddy Dan this morning, and he's getting ready to replace his WFCO power center with a Progressive Dynamics PD4045 like many of us have.

He pointed out a warning towards the bottom of Progressive Dynamics website (http://www.progressivedyn.com/index.html) warning of counterfeit knock-offs being sold on Amazon and a few other places. BE SURE YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! Do your research and make sure your source is legitimate, or you may be getting a power center that was refurbished in China (I'm assuming) with garbage components.

Yes, Frank over at Vintage Technologies sells legitimate Progressive Dynamic power centers. And he does sell them on Amazon and Ebay, as well as his own website.

Many selling on eBay and Amazon are dealers. I'm not doubting fakes. But in order to refurbish units you must first have a source of numerous units. I wonder if PD had an issue and had PDI set up as a refurbish'er. Then had business dispute, pulling authorization.

How would I know? Are there any tell tale signs. I just received mine ordering from Amazon. It has all the stickers and has a serial number. I have emailed Progressive Dynamics with the number so hopefully when they open tomorrow(Monday) they can give me some good/bad news. I will let Amazon know definitely that they are selling crap under their name if its fake

Since this was brought back up I re read the OP's pic. It doesn't say fake or refurbished. It says a company using the name Progressive Dynamics International isn't connected to Progressive Dynamics Inc.
That a PDInc converters are being sold by this PDInternational online.

I do appreciate the reply. I just want to make sure the one I have is the real thing. Money is to hard to come by for me for it not to be the real thing.

Yeah, I to have very little of it. Checking can't hurt. But I was always doubtful of the info. Re reading it seems like I had good reason.
